Inferred AS to Organization Mapping Dataset

The AS to Organization Mapping Dataset contains the results of applying CAIDAs method to map Autonomous Systems (AS) to organizations to our quarterly bulk dumps of WHOIS databases from the five Regional Internet Registries, ARIN, LACNIC, RIPE AFRINIC and APNIC, and two National Internet Registries, KRNIC and JPNIC.

Inferred AS to Organizations Mapping Dataset

CAIDAs method to map Autonomous Systems (AS) to organizations uses WHOIS information available from Regional and National Internet Registries to infer a mapping from AS numbers to the organizational entities that operate them. CAIDA collects quarterly bulk dumps (typically at the start of the months January, April, July and October) of the WHOIS databases from the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs: ARIN for North America, LACNIC for South America, RIPE NCC for Europe, AFRINIC for Africa, and APNIC for Asia/Pacific, including Australia) and from two National Internet Registries (NIRs: KRNIC for South Korea and JPNIC for Japan).

For each of these dumps a self-contained AS to organization mapping is inferred, and added to this dataset in a single file with name YYYYMMDD.as-org2info.txt.gz (where YYYYMMDD indicates the data on which the WHOIS dump was made. Each AS-to-organization files contains two different types of entries: one for AS numbers and one for organizations, with each AS entry containing a reference to one of the organization entries.

Mappings are available from October 2009 onwards. A new mapping is added each quarter, shortly after a new WHOIS dump is completed.
