Project Description
A student intern used Adobe Illustrator to create this prototype schematic depicting the genealogy of Internet infrastructure companies according to some scant public data we could find from:
- a 2002 NANOG mailing list thread
- the Internet History Exhibit 1962-1992 of the Computer History Museum (www.computerhistory.org)
- searching public web sites of known providers.
We would like to improve the quantity and quality of data in this visualization. When we (or someone else) has time, we would like to see a wiki form of this data that allows vetted contributions, from which we can create a visualization of the current data at any time. For now, we publish this prototype hoping to inspire folks to contribute data/corrections/offers of help to info @ caida . org
