On October 7-11, 2002, CAIDA and the Lorentz Center will co-host an Internet
Statistics and Metrics Analysis workshop concerning the multiresolution
analysis of core
routing tables and macroscopic topology data sets. This meeting is
intended for researchers and practitioners experienced in data analysis, data visualization, and Internet operations fields. This workshop will be the eighth
in a series of workshops held since 1996 on Internet data collection and analysis research issues.

Workshop Research Topics:
- Inference of global Internet topology changes, routing policies, and routing behavior propagation, using BGP data as well as passive measurements.
- Anomalies within Internet address space and BGP behavior (flaps, holes, unallocated but announced IP space, AS-distributions).
- BGP convergence and scalability.
- Co-relation between path failures and BGP events which can help in characterizing redundancy among service providers.
- A comparative analysis of timing and content characteristics of global prefix attribute changes.
- Observations on traffic flow patterns and routing policies.
- Estimation of intra-AS demands (traffic matrix) and traffic dynamics at different timescales.
- Status reports of the RIPE NCC measurement infrastructure.
